Recalling colorful history and the people who made Chicago Chicago Hy Speck, Historian & Educator will discuss just a few of those people who impacted the development of Chicago. He will cover Mies Van Der Rohe, one of the greatest architects of the 20th Century and his romance with Dr. Edith Farnsworth, Mayor Anton Cermak, who fell to an assassin's bullet intended for FDR, Jane Byrne, Chicago's first woman mayor, Samuel Insull, John Dillinger, and of course Sally Rand.
Sponsored by the North Shore Village of Glenview, Northbrook, and Northfield in conjunction with the North Suburban YMCA organization. Hy's presentation will be at the North Suburban YMCA, 2705 Techny Road, Northbrook, on September 3rd at 10"30 am. The event is free to the public.
