On January 1, 2020, the Illinois Workplace Transparency Act (WTA), a sweeping piece of legislation that imposes a variety of restrictions and requirements on employers relating to workplace discrimination and harassment, took effect. Among other requirements, the WTA mandates that all Illinois employers provide sexual harassment training to all employees by December 31 of this year, and annually thereafter. In our August Ask An Expert webinar, attorney Susan Troester, LaPointe Law will offer employers guidance on fulfilling their responsibility under the law and introduce the benchmark training materials published by the Illinois Department of Human Rights. Susan focuses her legal practice exclusively on counseling small business, not-for-profit, and public organization clients on a full range of employee related issues. She has shared her expertise with Chamber members at a number of roundtable events.
