Nominations Due for Glenview Civic Awards
The purpose of this event is to recognize and pay tribute to the citizens in Glenview that have “Made a Difference” by performing community service.
This civic event is sponsored by Service Clubs in the Village: American Legion Post 166, Glenview Women’s Club, Kiwanis Club of Glenview/Northbrook, Lions, Navy League – Glenview Council, Optimist, Rotary – Luncheon, Rotary – Sunrise and the Chamber of Commerce. Each year a member of each organization participates on a selection committee that reviews nominations and selects award recipients.
Reservations for the dinner can be made with Sandie Elliott at the Glenview Police Department (847) 901-6100, located at 2500 East Lake Avenue, Glenview, IL 60026. Reservations must be paid for at the time they are placed. The entrée is a chicken and fish combination at $50.00 per person. Arrangements may be made to reserve an entire table, if desired. Seating is limited to 180 so early reservations are recommended. Plan now to join with your fellow Villagers in honoring the recipients of the 2015 Glenview Civic Awards and let them know that their efforts in making Glenview an outstanding Village are appreciated.
Criteria for 2015 Glenview Civic Award Nominations
2015 Glenview Citizen of the Year
1.Must reside or work in the Glenview area.2.Must have performed outstanding community service beneficial to many persons in the Village.
3.Salaried officials and employees of public agencies in Glenview are eligible on the basis of non-job related activities.
2015 Glenview Youth of the Year
1.Must reside in the Glenview area.
2.Must be a high school student.
3.Must have involvement with one or more of the following:
a.Community
b.School
c.Family
d.Faith community
(Please provide a detailed resume of the nominee’s qualifications and the services he/she has performed. The name of the school and the grade level must be indicated.)
2015 Glenview Public Safety Award
1.Must be a duly appointed police officer, firefighter, or paramedic in the employ of the Village of Glenview.
2.Must have performed an outstanding act or service in the line of duty.
3.Must have accomplishments so outstanding as to justify special recognition.
2015 Glenview Public Service Award
- Must have performed an act of bravery that saved a life or prevented serious injury to a person.
- Must have given direct support to public authorities.
- Must have distinguished themselves by aiding police in the prevention of a crime or in the apprehension of a lawbreaker.
NOTE: Fire and police personnel are ineligible in this category.
